Christian Group Attends Pride Parade to Apologize to LGBTQ People

Christians Attend LGBT Parade to Apologize for Poor Treatment

The Church of Freedom in Christ Ministries attended a recent Pride event in the city of Marikina in the Philippines to apologize for anti-LGBTQ+ protests taking place at the same event.

Members of the Church of Freedom stood at the entrance of the parade, holding signs apologizing for the way some Christians have condemned the LGBTQ+ community as sinners.

"I'm sorry," read one sign. "We're here to apologize for the ways that we as Christians have harmed the LGBT community."

Others read statements like, "#LGBTQ, You are loved" or "God loves you; so do we..."

The signs stood in stark contrast to other Christian groups who were protesting the festivities.

Parade-goer Kohlin Lallabban told CNN that the Church of Freedom's efforts were "empowering" and deeply appreciated.

"It was so genuine and most of us got teary-eyed when we saw them," Lallabban said.

The LGBTQ+ community in the Philippines often finds itself at-odds with the nation at-large, which is heavily Catholic.
