Breaking! The Sanctuary Cities Ban has been upheld by the 5th Circuit. It is lawful, constitutional, and protects the safety of law enforcement officers and all Texans.— Ken Paxton (@KenPaxtonTX) March 13, 2018
A panel of federal judges is ruling in favor of the ban on sanctuary cities in Texas. Yesterday, the decision by a three judge panel on the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans upheld a 2010 Texas immigration measure. Among other provisions, the law gives license for Texas law enforcement officers to ask for a suspect's residential status during routine stops.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton tweeted his approval saying the law, quote "protects the safety of law enforcement officers and all Texans."
